Turks & Caicos Islands Advanced thermal treatment facility
Trent Developments is currently presenting to the Government of the Turks & Caicos Islands a possible solution to the twin problems of an overreliance on landfill and dependence on expensive diesel-fuel electricity generation.
Trent is assessing the potential for an advanced thermal treatment plant to treat the non-recycled element of waste which is currently sent to landfill. There are more than 40,000 tonnes of rubbish generated from domestic and commercial sources each year throughout the islands.
If the plant goes ahead, it will be a high tech gasification plant without emissions. It will be able to treat the waste generated and take the existing landfill to help protect both the onshore and offshore environment while supplying a new, green source of electricity for the local community. Output is expected to be sufficient to power over 3,000 homes.
